When you stare at the glowing screen of your iPhone or laptop, it becomes difficult to fall asleep. But if you want a good night’s sleep without feeling completely deprived, try the Ostrichpillow. This brand new pillow comes in two colors—grey and black—and is designed to block out all light while still giving users a natural feel for their surroundings. The company has also made an adjustable strap that can be attached around your head so that it stays securely in place even when sleeping on your side with one eye open.
The “ostrich pillow sleep mask” is a new product by Ostrich Pillow. The company claims that the mask will help you sleep in total darkness and comfort.
I was thrilled to test the Ostrichpillow 3D Ergonomic Eye Mask, a thoughtfully designed, higher-level eye mask. As a long-time sleep mask devotee (but not a brand loyalist — having relied on the free masks collected over time from overnight flights), I was thrilled to test a thoughtfully designed, higher-level eye mask.
Ostrichpillow claims their eye mask the “first true 3D ergonomic eye mask,” with a design adjustable to the three-dimensional characteristics of the face, claiming to fit properly on all head sizes and face types.
While we can’t comment on those claims since only one person evaluated this exact sleep mask, Underscored did carefully test numerous different sleep masks this past spring, including ones that provide a varied, inclusive fit. We can affirm, however, that the Ostrichpillow mask gives a 100 percent blackout sleep experience in great comfort.
The Eye Mask with Ostrich Pillow is made up of six layers of “high-quality materials” (which aren’t clearly explained on the website), but it feels cottony-foamy, soft, and incredibly comfy. We were nearly taken aback by how quickly a bedroom in broad daylight got dark when we first tried on the mask, having never used a complete blackout sleep mask previously. The six layers combine to produce a light barrier that is substantial yet light and portable.
The mask was gently but firmly suctioned to the face, with no holes in the material allowing light to pass through. A sturdy Velcro fastening around the back of the head allows for adjusting the snugness of the fit, and the mask adhered to the face and blocked light even at a looser location around the head. At the same time, the mask was breathable and didn’t seem obstructive in the least.

Ostrichpillow Eye Mask
Sleeping on our backs or sides while wearing the Ostrichpillow Eye Mask was a dream come true. We slept blissfully in utter darkness, and even if we needed to get up in the middle of the night, removing and reapplying the mask was straightforward.
When opposed to the free flat masks provided on aircraft, one disadvantage of this mask was the stomach sleeping experience. Sleeping facedown doesn’t seem natural at first because of the Ostrich’s soft but structural cups around the eyes, which are highly effective at maintaining the mask in position and blocking light. When sleeping facedown, the cups surrounding the eyes seem extremely present – not unpleasant, but obvious. After a few nights of use, the mask’s structure relaxed a little, and we’re wondering whether repeated use and washings of the mask would help a user grow more acclimated to stomach sleeping.
To that end, the mask is machine washable (with line drying recommended), a feature that none of the sleep masks reviewed by Underscored last spring could boast of. The Ostrichpillow mask also comes with a handy travel case, so you can throw it in your luggage for flights, train excursions, or even lunchtime breaks in your company’s meditation room, if that’s your reality at work.
The Ostrichpillow mask isn’t cheap, but it’s machine washable and customizable, so it might be a solid long-term investment in many excellent nights’ sleep.
The “ostrich pillow light” is a sleep mask that blocks out the suns rays and helps you sleep in total darkness. The mask is made of 100% cotton, so it’s comfortable to wear.
